The NAFA Winds programme is tailored for practically all the major wind instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, euphonium, trombone and tuba, with an evolving curriculum both rooted in traditions and tailored to modern, market-oriented needs and supported by our degree partner, the Royal College of Music.

Students receive one-to-one Principal Study coaching by members of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and established professional performers active in the local music scene. The programme also features regular masterclasses by renowned international artists from Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other countries with a strong music tradition. Instrumental education is backed by a strong theoretical education, enabling students to adapt quickly to the demands of the market – often a necessity in wind performance.

Both local performance opportunities, such as at the Victoria Concert Hall and various venues at the Esplanade, as well as concert trips to Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, and Croatia are highlights of the programme. Members of the NAFA Wind Ensemble have also produced an audio compact disc, featuring recordings of unique compositions derived from traditional folk tunes by Asian composers.

The NAFA Winds programme counts amongst its alumni professional musicians employed by bands, ensembles and orchestras not only in Singapore, but also in Indonesia, Malaysia, China and other immediate regions.
